Description

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for a dynamic, action-packed second season, with newly appointed Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) – now the keeper of the secrets - charged with rebuilding and restoring government and public trust in S.H.I.E.L.D. in the wake of the events of “Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” where it was revealed evil Hydra agents had infiltrated the organization. Ever since the existence of super heroes and aliens became public knowledge after the Battle of New York, the world has been trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson, who had died at the hands of Loki during the battle, was resuscitated and brought back into action, assembling a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division). S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mission: to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive. But the biggest threat was growing from within, as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s old enemy, Hydra – a dangerous extremist group Captain America fought against in World War II – had secretly infiltrated and infected the organization at the highest levels. Once revealed to the public, S.H.I.E.L.D., including Coulson and his team, was discredited and made to look like the enemy. The world now views S.H.I.E.L.D. as untrustworthy, and it's Coulson's job to change that opinion. Director Phil Coulson will also be joined by Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), Agent Leo Fitz, (Iain De Caestecker), Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and others.

  • Season 2 off at a sprint

Season 2 of Agents of SHIELD kicks off at the same quality last season ended on- that is to say, quite a few notches above the merely okay “monster of the week” show that Season 1 started as. But that’s not surprising, given how the show improved after it could grapple with the radical shifts occurring in The Winter Soldier. If you followed the show through to the end of last season, that shouldn’t be surprising. But it’s amazing how the first 3 episodes of Season 2 have raised the bar in every way. Each week the action is more intense and creative, the threats are both more visceral and more intriguing, the plot is tighter even as it flows better. The real strength is in the character growth, though. Everybody finds themselves in new roles, put under different pressures. Even if you liked the crew last season, it had to be admitted that the best of them could be card-board cutouts. No more. The agents and those around them are all reacting to the changing dynamics forced by changing circumstances, and they’re doing it in more nuanced and interesting ways. There’s virtually no one in the broadened cast who I’m not interested in right now, including certain people I had previously wished into the cornfield. The producers are also bringing in new characters, but wisely doing so at a reasonable pace. At the same time that I can’t wait to see more of some of these more background characters, I’m very glad that Marvel is letting them unfold more naturally. Even if you gave up on this show last season, it’s really worth a look now. It’s truly one of the best adventure shows on right now, and if it keeps improving at this pace will become one of the best in a very long while.

The first half of Season One was a bit slow. Once Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hit the second half of the season, with the two movies (THOR: THE DARK WORLD and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER); and the crossovers happened, is when things began to take off.

I really don’t think people like a few of the reviewers below should be writing any sort of comments on the preorder for season 2 if you haven’t even finished season 1 or at the very least seen past the first few episodes. Admittedly, the first half of season 1 was particularly weak with only Fzzt really standing out as a great episode. With that said starting with episode 11 the show really began to take off, and the show got great, and it got even better after the cross-over with Captain America which revealed a shocking secret having to do with one of team members. What I’m truing to say is while season 1 had its flaws, the show really came to its own by the end of the first season, and it only looks to be improving more with season 2, and in my eyes it is quickly becoming must watch television.

Agents of SHIELD is a brilliant show that highlights just how important the link between the TV and film world really are. SHIELD has always been about protection and it's rebuilding is important now because there needs to be something to keep everything together, there has to be something out there equipped to give support when things go wrong - SHIELD has never been the villain, not those who believed in its pure founding belief to serve and protect - but they don't live in a black or white world, they live in the grey areas of ambiguity because sometimes tough choices have to be made - which is where SHIELD has to stand to do their job. In fact, the "elite" squad have never been villains, they have consistently saved many people's lives. Without SHIELD a lot of things could have gone even more worse. And Coulson's return isn't just a throw away storyline with no interesting growth or point, in fact, his continual same quips and "fairly lazy" explanation were all purposely made so that it soon became obvious that something was not right and there were more secrets than even Coulson knew. And his return was never mere surgery, it was alien technology involved that has huge consequences that Coulson has only begun to experience the side effects - whatever the blue alien is, and whoever Skye's father is, both storylines will collide into something that will impact the whole of the cinematic universe. All these storylines, they carry weight and impact - Agents of SHIELD is a strong growing show that will finally get to stretch more of its wings and expand the cinematic universe more. Whatever happens in Avengers 2, it will be Agents of SHIELD that will give the lead in and follow the fall out of the consequences of the aftermath

This show rocks! Yes last season had its flaws, but there's way worse stuff on TV, by far!(below deck, don't be tardy, sister wives, 16 and pregnant, Long Island medium, real housewives) I could have definitely named way more, but, you get the point. Catch shield, September 23 on abc.

This show is incredible! The writing in the second season is so much better than the first, and the character development is much better. I strongly suggest this show even if you aren't into Marvel. It's a whole different world. However, if you get easily stressed out and panic attacks from stressful/suspenseful shows, I do not recommend it. I have issues with this but if you think you can deal with it I strongly recommend it!

This is one of the best series I've seen in a long time. I love the fact that the series itself is happening during the same time as the Marvel movies and yet it's separated. Love to see how Culson's group has evolved all along season 1 and seeing them how they're doing now. This series is a must watch for people who love action an operations.

Only two episodes so far but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has started out of the gate at a fast pace. Season 2 is somewhat darker in tone than season one but I think there are just as many twists and turns on the way. Very promising start.

First off, this show has an amazing cast with great writers who really know how to make quality television. In the behind the scenes footage it appears all the actors have a great time working with each other and seem to have formed a genuine bond off screen. I believe this bond makes their on screen performances that much stronger and convincing which in turn makes AOS that much better! I agree with others that said the first half of season 1 was a bit slow (not necessarily bad ) but after the story picked up and the plot thickened it left me craving more and more AOS! I’m so excited about season 2, especially after watching the pilot! This season hit the ground running with no signs of slowing down. I can’t wait to see what villains and other goodies they have in store for us this season!, I highly urge those of you who stopped watching AOS before the second half of season 1 to go back and finish it, I promise you won’t regret it! :) I would also advise against giving a tv show/movie a negative review or rating if you haven’t seen it in it’s entirety. That’s like reading the first few pages of a book and telling everyone that it is horrible and should not to read it. Shows with a lot of diverse characters need a little thing called character development which takes a little time. :) I digress. If you are a fan of good writing, acting, action, drama and cool gizmos you will love this show!

This show is fantastic! Really seriously the best show I've ever seen, even though it had a little bit of a rocky start. Season 2 is my favorite by far! I love all the inhumans and superpowers now! Keep it up Marvel!

I absolutely love this series! It fills plot gaps between all the Marvel movies. Just every episode ends in a cliff hanger! It drives me nuts!!

But hate that it's getting so sexual (in some episodes) I just wish I could enjoy it without it getting ruin when those scenes come up (all this is in my opinion sry if u don't agree)

This season of Agents Of SHIELD was incredible from the first ep down to the two part finale! There were a few choices that didn’t always engage me: The SHIELD Civil War, Cal’s little Brotherhood of Evil-lite, most of ep.6. But the highlights more than made up for these: Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse showing up, Kyle MacLaughlan as Cal, the revelation Skye was actually Daisy “Quake” Johnson, The Inhumans, Brett Dalton’s amazing performance as Grant Ward, seeing how Melinda May earned the nickname The Cavalry… I could go on but honestly this season really knocked it out of the park, taking us from Director Coulson trying to rebuild SHIELD & facing HYDRA to Skye learning to embrace her newfound Inhuman powers & dealing with her mother, Jiaying, going Magneto on everyone. I said season one is better binge watching and that’s not the case here. Because regardless if you binge watch or just watch one ep at a time, they all have something amazing to watch!

I've been watching AOS since it first aired in 2013 and it's been one of my favorite shows. I love everything about it and the cast. 💕
