This is the definitive Pride and Prejudice and the most successful TV period drama ever. Starring Colin Firth, Jennifer Ehle and a fabulous supporting cast, this BBC/A&E co-production pulsates with energy as lively, witty Elizabeth Bennet charms smouldering, haughty Darcy against a backdrop of a picture postcard countryside, small-town assembly rooms and stately English homes.

  • Where is the HD version?

This is the definitive production, but many years after the Blu Ray version came out, we still don't have the HD version in the iTunes store. Come on Apple, pull your finger out!

Why is this not available in HD? I will purchase when it is available in HD. But it is a five star show.

I was going to buy this and to date it is one of my favorite things ever put on TV but the HD version is not here and the quality is terrible!!! I should give it 1 star but I gave it 4 because this is an incredible mini series and dropped one start for it not being the HD version which exists! Will not buy it till that version is released!!!
  • Amazing

I love it so much And I love the charcters I have already read the novel by Jane Austin it’s awesome
  • Almost as good as the book!

    By ChristopherD34
This mini-series is very enjoyable! It is a faithful and endearing approximation of Jane Austen's masterpiece. The actors really bring the written characters to life. Colin Firth's expressions, scowls, and piercing stares make him an amazing Darcy (I love the eye rolls while he visits Lady Catherine). Jennifer Ehle is feisty and impertinent…just as Elizabeth should be. However, the woman that steals the show (in the most annoyingly wonderful manner) is Alison Steadman as Mrs. Bennet (no wonder Mr. Bennet locks himself away in his library). My only negative thing to say about this mini-series is iTunes lack of the HD version. The HD Blue-ray version of this miniseries has been out for some time. I hope that Apple makes the HD version available soon! -Chris
  • The Best Version of Any Jane Austen Film Adaptation

    By Spitting Lama
I think of the miniseries more aptly compared to other movie than other TV shows. Miniseries, in my mind, tend to be better for adaptations of literary works. To create depth and detail is often simply a matter of time and not a lack of skill by the screenplay writer or the actor. My favorite "movie" of all time is actually a miniseries - an adaptation of Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove. Another favorite, The Godfather, is a favorite when taken with it's sequel. Both "Dove" and "Godfather" are like celluloid easy chairs. I can recline and be wrapped up in them. I am never bored by watching them. And each time I watch they seem better and better. It is saying something that, as a man coming to Jane Austen first at the age of 50, that I have consumed every film version of her short catalog. And this P&P I easily place among not only my favorite Jane Austen adaptations but among my favorite "movies" of all time. (I will admit that it is, at times, difficult for me to tolerate Mrs. Bennet and her fluttering and vexation. What I took at first to be over-acting I now recognize as a vital portrayal.)
  • The best of the best

Without a doubt the signature version of P&P. Excellent on every count.
  • You can't beat it!

To me, this film rendition is by far the best they have out there. The 2005 Keira Knightly version PALES in comparison! This is a great time killer for long summer road trips. It's well worth the buy!

Best show ever. You will never regret buying it. Best version and most like the book.
  • Can we get this in HD already?!

    By Awkwardflail
I have been waiting years for this ultimate version of Austen's classic to become available in HD and according to this comment thread I am not alone. C'mon Apple give your customers what they want. It's Econ 101. This title has been out on blu ray for years so an excellent HD transfer exists. Does anyone at HQ even read these comments? HD Firth & Ehle now!
  • Best romantic series ever

    Best series ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love it 😍 💗💗
  • Not bad.

    By Froggleep
This is the best version of Pride and Prejudice I've seen, although it is not without flaws. Side note: I purchased this from iTunes and the quality is terribly disappointing. I don't recommend this purchase for that reason. I've watched this production online and the quality was far better. Would love to get my money back on this purchase. Fat chance.
  • Terrible quality...half screen

    By Avs4me
It breaks my heart to write a poor review for this brilliant show but I bought this today and sat down with excitement to watch only to see it's only half a screen and still the 1995 quality. This is not acceptable iTunes
  • I wanted to like it...

    By JosiahMagnet
After recommendations from my mother, sister, and a few others, I finally got around to watching it. Let me just start out by saying that the first half of this is BORING. I mean it. I love character development as much as the next guy but I was so bored in the first half that by the time things started getting interesting, I didn't care 'cause I was so tired. That being said, the second half was much better. It started out interesting and didn't get too boring. You can watch it if you want. I may not watch it a second time, however, due to the first half.
  • The best ever!!
