  • Where's Season 2???

    By gatordiva
I love this show I think its hilarious and some of the things Sheldon comes up with are actually brilliant arguements. The writers outdid themselves!! My only question: Where is season 2? I know it started already is itunes not going to carry the second season?

I thought that this show was just plain hilarious. It kept me laughing the whole time. Especially the friend's of leonard, they cracked me up. lol. Get this, its not like your paying for it. Give me a yes if you think this is true.
  • Dumb yet extremely funny.

    By damistaoj
The plot is shallow, the stereotypes are to the extreme, and overall seems very low brow (this coming from a show that talks over your head every 5 seconds). Yet for some reason I couldn't stop laughing. I actually miss a simple comedy that just makes you laugh. If you're a nerd or know one, you'll love this show.

As a prominent watcher of CBS Programming i feel that this comedy could really add something that was missing from Monday nights. This pilot episode kept me laughing throughout and i look foreward to watching more on CBS, and buying more on iTunes.
  • I never thought I would buy TV shows on iTunes...

but I think I am hooked on "The Big Bang Theory." I caught an episode in the United States, but then went overseas. Since then, I've been downloading them and watching them in the evenings at my desk. It feels strange to pay for a TV show, but in this case worth it. The two leads are phenomenally good, especially the guy playing Sheldon. His comic timing is perfect, and his facial expressions are just so right for the character. The actor playing Leonard will be familiar to a lot of people from his time on Roseanne, and indeed there is a strong Roseanne-effect at work on the show. The actors who played one of Roseanne's daughters and also her sister have already appeared in cameos. I was going to say this show might do for nerds what Roseanne did for white, working-class middle America - but it's not that good. It's not dumb or especially shallow (for a sitcom) as at least one other review has suggested, but so far it hasn't show the brilliance or insight that made Roseanne something special. And I wonder how big of an audience this show will capture. It isn't clear to me how effective or funny the nerdy jokes will be for most people. When Sheldon describes one of his whiteboard passages as being a spoof of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, do you have to know anything about physics or who Born or Oppenheimer were to find that funny? I do know, and did find it funny - but maybe for people who don't know, it works well-enough - "Born-Oppenheimer approximation" basically being read/heard as "complicated science equation thing." The two weakest elements of the show are, to my mind, the "beautiful but dim" Penny and the lecherous Walowitz. They seem to be making Penny less dim, and that is definitely the right way to go. She needs to emerge as 'street smart' if her character is to have any appeal - intelligent and perceptive, just not a nerd, with better comonsense than Sheldon and Leonard. In that way, she might also function as a proxy for the viewer - providing a point of entry and identification. If she remained the way she was in the first episode, this would never have worked and - I think - the show would have flopped. But they seem to have seen this and Penny is emerging as a more interesting and capable character, though this needs to go further. Walowitz is just too lecherous and obnoxious, too pathetic. Again, he needs to be humanized if the show is really going to make it. Frankly, I would love to see more of Leslie - played by the actor who played Roseanne's daughter. She has that smart, cynical role down so well, just as she did in Roseanne. She's just very appealing. But I can see that her character might unbalance the Leonard-Penny dynamic, which is one of the two main axes/motors of the show, the other of course being the more appealing Leonard-Sheldon dynamic. Those two guys just go to town with their scenes together and it is amazing to watch. In those moments, this is great television. The rest of the time, it is at least watchable and funny, and it has real potential.

    Not real. Too effeminate.
  • Great show, but where is the extras?

    By Matthew016
This is a great first season of the Big Bang theory. All the episodes look, sound, and are great. However, the only complaint that I have is that if you buy the show on Blu-ray or DVD, it comes with two extras. There’s an interview with the cast about the season and their characters, and there’s a gag reel, featuring many of the cast’s mess ups. It would be great if this season could be updated, including the extras.
