Description

They came for water. And for food. And, as it turned out, we were the food. But humanity bravely resisted — a struggle seen in the hit miniseries V and V: The Final Battle. Yet the war continues. The heroic conflict comes to a surprising outcome in V: The Series. Once again, Earth is the main battleground. But now the aliens whose human disguise hides their true reptilian natures are wiser. They believe the secret to their survival on Earth lies in the DNA of the newly born half-human, half-spaceling Starchild. They intend to capture her. But that's something the world's Resistance Fighters cannot allow.

I'm glad iTunes is taking a risk in bring back some old school shows. V truly stretches the sci-fi imagination. Its no Star Trek but its still worth the time invested.

I remember watching this show, love to watch old TV shows. Keep in mind that the special effects are now considered B budget but back in late 80's it was all we had. I was so into the show that during family get together's we would pertain we were part of the revolution protecting earth. This is good retro Sci-Fi, thank you iTunes for adding it into the video library.

NBC tried to capitalize on the success of the mini series by making a TV show out of a concept that is ill-suited for a weekly series (something that still happens today). Having characters like Diana, as leader of the visitors, and Julie Parrish as one of the resistance leaders, was a great representation of women in power, but the stories were mostly ridiculous . One of the worst examples was when they changed gears halfway through the season and dumped half the cast with no explanation. Ham Tyler (the fantastic Michael Ironside) leaves mid season in the last five minutes of the epsiode with no notice but a hug from Julie. What? There is lots of campy fun to be had though, especially the "Charles and Diana" storyline. And don't get me started on June Chadwick (Lydia). The woman talks like she still has her brekfast in her mouth. Awful. Do I have all of this TV in my collection? Of course I have, I'm no fool. Enjoy.

  • About halfway through the season, it falls apart

The series, in my opinion, starts off great. However, about halfway through the season, as a previous poster said, the interesting characters leave and we are left with the romance of the star child and a "I'm going to get back at daddy" plotline. I bought the series on DVD a few years back and I watched the last few episodes only because I owned them. If I was watching on TV, I would have probably stopped watching and gave up at about episode 15.

Jeez, I remember this series very well. It was a family event to catch every last detail of this series. Man, this was back when we still had our top-loading VCR! Before Blockbuster, there was Jim's Video Mart, and I can still remember watching an episode of V there, while my Dad was checking out the huge laser disks that had just come on the market. That had to have been 20 years ago! I'm almost afraid to watch the series again after all this time.
  • Awsome Show!!!

Wow I never imagined this would come back after so many years I remember seeing this when i was a kid. I already have the series on VHS and DVD . I even have all 17 DC Comic books like 6 sets still in plastic and now worth quite a bit of money along with all the figurines and collectible cards. Great Times with this show and a huge crush when i was a kid on Jane Badler (Diana) . I would recommend buying this show although the graphics now seem cheesy after all the new technology we have now for movies lol. but still a good buy..
  • One of the best shows of all time!

I will never forget this show. As soon as I heard it was available, I got it. Truely captivating. Only the Complete Series isnt as good as the original "mini series". It seems as though stupid things happen... but none the less, its an interesting show, and one of my top 3! The main reason I gave this 4 stars is because of the ending. LAME! Still I highly recommend this!
  • Wow, I can't believe it!

I loved this show when I was a child. I think I'd rather have it on DVD but this is cool. Now if Itunes would clean up their act as for allowing individual song downloads again intstead of all this album only crap I would really be happy,

THis is a series that brings back childhood memories. It is the Star trek for the 80's babies.

  • Why does this cost so much?

All V tv seasons/shows cost $10.00 @ Wal-mart. Why are they so expensive on iTunes? I think a price adjustment needs to be made on iTunes. This would've gotten 5 stars for being an awesome show, but it gets 1 star for being a rip-off price.

Great show from the past. The first two episodes were great, but it started to tank out as it went on to the end of the season.

As "campy" as everyone says this is...and it is campy, What I like about this and the mini-series is that my whole family would gather around the "ONE" boob tube we had and watch this show every week. We were so into it !! Not to sound too depressing but, this is one of the last times I can remember before the divorce and my big bro. getting kicked out, and my sister moving to england that we where just a normal family, all of us every fri. night sitting and talking about the show and wondering what's going to happen this week!! Thanks V for the cool memory!

I have all three series now and I just love them. They show their age but if you watch them in context you'll love them like you did back when you first saw them. A++++
  • Big Difference between Mini series and Series

I loved the 2 mini series, but this series probebly had the same budget for an entire series. The mini series also had a start middle and end. This story wasn't up to par with the rest of the series.
  • Sorry, Just can't say much good about this one.

The concept of 'V' was good to a point and then it goes all human on you. it would have gone over better as Lizzzzzzards from outer space. The rat easting is fun to watch, I guess?
  • The miniseries is great, the show ok.

V, the miniseries is excellent. The TV show isn't nearly as great, but is still worth watching. It's pretty campy and comes off as a Sci-Fi soap opera of the 1980's.

This is great "old school" stuff, a little cheese but great back in the 80's, would like to see this redone as an actual movie.
  • Great memories...doesn't hold up (did it ever?)

You can watch all of these for free on AOL Video. But I guess if your wanting to burn em to DVD or something then the cost is justified. If you just want to view them. Check out AOL In2TV.
