  • Awful TV

Characters seem not believable and overall really bad show in my opinion .
  • Don't Bother - this isn't Star Trek

    By Echo7
This series is a real mess. Terrible leads who can't act (especially Sarek and Burnham). A writing and production staff who truly don't care about the continuity and canon of the Trek universe (even the JJ movies found a truly Trek way of working into established canon - unlike the writers and producers of Discovery who clearly don't care). A music score that is incredibly dull and boring (there's not really a theme). While the title says it's Star Trek, it really isn't. And don't get me started on the ridiculous spore drive jumping and cheesy effects that go with it. If you are a long time Trek fan who hasn't seen this, consider yourself lucky!
  • The weakest link

    By nocrickets
You can plainly see why this addition to the franchise has had such a rocky start. The 2-part intro is promising. Yeah, a lot of the acting is wooden and the dialogue is often painfully clunky, even for Star Trek. But the Klingons are the best yet, and Michelle Yeoh as captain? How cool is that? But by the end of episode 2 you can see the unraveling start, and the rest of the season is kind of a mess. The writing is sloppy and sometimes downright dopey. For all the time they spend developing the characters, they're not very interesting or believable. Introducing a bunch of Green Party propaganda probably seemed like a cool innovation in the writers' room, but it warps the ST legacy toward a kind of Avatar Lite hippy-dippiness that is not a good thing. Then by episode 10 they've given up on writing new things and are openly ripping off the Kirk days for material. Wow. By the end of the season a major course correction seems very much in order, and maybe season 2 will provide it, though this season doesn't offer much hope. It's not one-star terrible, it's got scattered good moments and it looks great, but I'd say, based on this season, it's the weakest link yet in the franchise.
  • Not really Star Trek

    By Roger's Here
The show runners have liberally stolen from everyone. From Battlestar Galactica, from Star Wars, from Red Dwarf, and even Dark Matter they've grabbed plot devices, motivations and even plot points. What it isn't is Star Trek.
  • Dumb !

    By nettalk
This is so bad the dialog is trite, making the Klingons as thugs and "Michael" should have be locked up and the key thrown away. Please do not waste a moment of time or dime on this terrible show. Too bad it could have been so great as the Enterprise and Original series really is.
  • Beautiful Show WORTHY of the Star Trek Legacy

    By ConnieXCX
This show continuously pushes the limits of Star Trek with every new episode. The cinematography and music are beautifully composed. The acting is some of the best in the franchise. The story is surreal and limitless in opportunity. This show has introduced many of my friends to the world of Star Trek and it is one of the best series of the entire franchise. This show has been crafted with love and care for the history of Star Trek. Watch it all before casting judgement, you’ll love the journey.
  • Love it

    By Mr Silverblood
I was dubious about this new show when it was originally talked about, but from the first episode I was hooked. Been watching Trek since The Search For Spock way back in the 80’s. More of a fan of the movies from the original crew, and a big fan of Picard, Sisko, and Janeway. Didn’t really follow or like Archer too much, but I absolutely love this new show! And I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty picky when it comes to what I watch on TV.
  • Very Disappointed...

    By K Piper
Special effects are good, but everything else is terrible. I am a big Star Trek fan and own every episode of all the Star Trek series. The story is odd and disconnected. I get tired off half the movies being subtitled for the weird Klingons (I like to work while watching and subtitles make me have to stop or ignore). It seems to have almost no relationship with the other episodes other than they try to tie a few things in 2/3 through the series. The acting is not very good and responses in situations seem unnatural. I would not recommend it. It would have been slightly better without the Star Trek name,
  • Pathetic Attempt to Create a New Star Trek Series

    By Tmelt
Ho Hum, I was so excited to see this and my neighbor purchased this season on iTunes and he invited me and others in the hood to watch the first episode. Talk about a waste of money and I feel sorry for my neighbor for wasting good money on this trash. Not one of us cared for it. I do not understand how TV networks come up with stuff like this like it is so great while at the same time cancelling shows that the viewers actually like.
  • worse Trek ever made

    By 01lonewolf
this is supposed to be before Kirks time, the ship looks post Nenisis. they pull another never heard of sibling off Spock out of nowhere, and the Klingons look like purple fish people. CBS needs to hire some people that know Trek

Cancel this garbage. The cast represents every freakshow deviant behavior imaginable.
  • 35 bucks for this?!?!?!?!

Someone is looking for a cash grab on this crap. I will wait for it to be on Netflix
  • Awesome show

I love this show. I can’t get enough.
  • what are these bad reviews talking about???

im not a “Trekkie” but i love Star Trek...and this is the best series of them all
  • Star Trek Dis-respect

    By Jboy23231
The good it has some good visuals and set design. The bad - pretty much every character with the worst being the lead angry black woman. Literally every episode is nothing but bickering and liberal garbage crammed under the guise of the name Star Trek. Each character shows a lack of integrity, respect, honor, and likeability. I watched Season 1 and started 2. It doesn’t get any better in S2. Just avoid unless you enjoy your characters smug and condescending. They really should rename the show Star Trek Dis-respect.
  • Great Show!

    By Stlgasman
I was surprised to see all of the negative reviews. As a lifelong “Trekkie”, I admit that it is different than the moralizing Original Series and Next Generation. It is interesting, the characters are strong and the special effects are first rate. I’m enjoying the second season and hope there will be a third.
  • Don't mind the haters

    By Kat Shadowstar
This is a good show. Yes, it takes a little while before it finds its feet, but did you stop watching TNG because of Code of Honor or Angel One? Who doesn't remember that the show that gave us Move Along Home eventually gave us In the Pale Moonlight? Who doesn't remember the difficulty everyone had accepting Janeway's totally not-Trek-ideal crew that had *infighting*? The first half of this show is explained by the twist, and while I wish they'd done more with it, it's still well done. Haters gonna hate. Don't let them stop you from watching Discovery.
  • Enjoyable... needs work

    By RealDT85
Due to the review bombers, I can’t give an honest review of the show. It was a decent start, but it needs work and stability. There are some Star Trek staples that need to be in show, much of the struggles and drama are not quite there yet. Hope they develop the show more
  • New Trek!

    By Rembrond
Wasn’t sure I would like it due to stuff I had heard. Decided to see for myself and enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to season 2! I think this proves that specifically targeted shows like this can succeed and that the viewers will support the show! Hopefully more shows will try this approach... The old TV ways of doing things are dying, its time for new ideas on how to do things.

As a lifelong Trek fan, I was curious about DISCOVERY S2, since the first promos dropped, announcing the arrival of the Captain Pike character, played by veteran actor Anson Mount (Hell On Wheels) ...a bonafide Trekkie. I was really looking forward to Season 1; but just couldn’t get into it. Season 2, however, has been a welcome improvement. Mount’s portrayal of Pike has brought subtlety, respect, and an undeniable onscreen chemistry with his his fellow cast and crew-mates. The first two episodes have been ‘epic’ in scope and a welcome throwback to classic Trek in a very fresh and exciting way. The directing skills of another Trek veteran, (Jonathan Frakes) help bring Discovery S2 to a whole new realm... and it’s very, very good. Can’t wait to see the next one.
