Modern television has certainly taken a new form of direction. From who can make the edgiest show to who can make the shortest one. Traditional formulas have changed which is certainly a good thing but the constant need to overuse sex & violence is beyond me. It just distastes the show to be less family and more adult. Especially upon comparing the Westworld movie to the series. Here, you have a world within a world that man has created with machines that can do amazingly lifelike interactions. And yet all we want to do is sleep with them? Really? Has man become that cynical? Westworld can be represented in 2 ways. Cold and hard. Or the awe of its wonder. But we are faced with a Game of Thrones parallel where almost every human is a mortal demon looking out for his own well-being. There are no heroics. Just desperation. It is a difficult show to watch. Production wise, it comes top of the list with location and digital effects that look stellar. But this is more eye candy meets psychological drama and you have to wonder where they possibly aim to go? It’s not a bad show. But it could also be a great show if it wasn’t for its new expected formula.
  • What a Great Show

I had high hopes for the show from the start. I didn't get to see the original movie this series was based off of until after the show had started but I was familiar with the plot of the movie so I understood the concept of the show, and I was excited to watch it. As the show progressed I got more and more intreged and captivated, some of the ideas and ways they attempted to convey those ideas confused me, but as time went on I would catch up and eventually figure out more and more of the confusing bits. Its a great show, very well made, directed, and love the complex plots, male and female nudity, we are looking forward to many many more seasons to buy.
  • EMPTY

Even Anthony Hopkins could not save this empty series. It is bland and does not keep you interested in how it will end; it has a boring plot, and lackluster story. I finished the entie season, and only wathced it to see if it would get better - it did not. It just does not grab and hold your attention like past HBO Series have. It was overrated from the beginning, and HBO struck out on this.

Again I find myself disgusted by nudity, immorality, etc. There should be a disclaimer. I couldn't even finish the first episode.

This series is a perfect example of why money can't cover up a crap storyline, there haven't been many times I've binge watched a show and felt that my hours were wasted and I wanted them back but Westworld takes the cake. It's a fairytale in a sense with a winding plot that goes largely unexplained. This would be ok if I had cared about any of the characters involved but they forgot to really get the audience involved in that too.
  • The Best Show Out There

This has been the best show I’ve watched in a long time. The characters are interesting, the plot twists are blindsiding, and the thought provoking aspect is one that surprises you in the moment. I can’t wait until season 2!

It's a shame ... taking a once unique idea and turning it into yet another excuse for base debauchery. Nice sets, high production values and cinematorgraphy to match cannot save this agendized re-make. Waste of good production money.
