Those giving 5 stars are wrong for that. Just because it’s a weird movie- you all call it well written. So slow, I fell asleep twice for two different days. Still don’t remember because I slept through the ending. That’s how boring this movie is

Had a little of the same feel as a Tarantino movie only not so much over the top with the blood and bullets flying everywhere as Hateful 8, Django Unchained, or Inglorious Basterds. Jeff Bridges acting as good as ever too bad he's a Liberal nutter.
  • Slow!!!

Not sure how many of these 5 star ratings were paid for or family members of the cast but they can’t all be real...

I really loved this film. Bear in mind, the trailer is misleading (so banish it from your memory before watching), and there are parts of the story left purposely vague, so if you like by-the-numbers movies that spell everything out and tie it all up in a big neon bow, give this a miss. Bad Times has a noir streak running right through the center of it, with a (late) mid-century backdrop, a Tarantino-meets-Hitchcock vibe and a stellar cast to round it out. The film's soundtrack is like a bonus character unto itself, and worth a grab as well.

This film is GAWD AWFUL. If I have to suffer through another hipster set decorator driven dribble of a film, I’m going to vomit. Bridges should get over himself and learn to really play the guitar (instead of relying on real musicians), at this point in his career it won’t hurt. His film roles are becoming so tired it is pathetic to watch. HIs brother Beau is taking more serious parts than he. Just a huge waste of my time trying to make sense of this piece of crap that iTunes labeled a movie.

From the beginning of the movie, you can already feel that something is wrong. This is the type of movie where you don’t know what could possibly happen next and you just sit there with your mouth open trying to process the information coming through your eyes. The best part of the movie is the fact that it all fits like a puzzle and as each piece gets added it only gets better and better. Things make sense, so you won’t have moments where you question the reality of a situation. The worst part is that some mysteries aren’t solved or some things about the lives of the characters or about the hotel aren’t cleared up by the end of the movie. Definitely worth the watch and rewatch. Not a typical movie that becomes forgotten in the brain.

Thank you for all the shout-outs in this movie. I loved the reference to the cult of personality (Manson/Zendik Farms—and all the other completely bizarre cults we have had in America—the internet may have put an end to all these, so our kids won’t even understand when we try to explain the unexplainable). The reference to that creepy hotelier that Gay Talese wrote about—my grandparents had one of his novels in their library. Hilarious! How cool was the reference to MeToo with the mowtown singer trying to make it big?? The Hoover FBI reference was so much fun—the FBI has a finger in every pie much like today. You couldn’t really make out how deeply the FBI was involved in surveillance of the hotel. That was tres cool too. Finally, I liked how the writer incorporated the Vietnam War in a sensitive manner. The acting was just awesome. Was Hemsworth doing a Bill Murray accent for his charismatic cult leader? That was just awesome. And as for the other actors, the script gave them a chance to show some serious skills that one usually only observes in live theatre. Thanks for a great night out!

I haven’t gasped during a movie, like I did during this film, in a long time. Entertaining, darkly funny, and intense.
