  • Must see

I don’t care about negative reviews...everyone’s a critic. But this lady has a good voice. In the opening her voice has the quality of sound like Judy Garland. Just listen. She’s not faking it. It’s just her voice and a very good one. Bradley sings his own songs. And he did a fine job. This is the fourth version of the original film. If you like music and then some, you may like this movie. It’s worth watching!
  • A tremendous achievement--I would give it 4 1/2 stars...

This is one of those movies that actually takes its time to let the audience REALLY care about the characters. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's portrayals of the main characters were magnificent, as was Sam Elliott's. I'm not in any way a fan of Andrew Dice Clay, but even he brought something special to his portrayal of Ally's father. The story of how he was cast is crazy! The one problem I have with the movie, and which I've deducted half a star for, is how rushed Ally's transition from appearing on the stage with Jackson to becoming a bonafide star was. It felt like it happened overnight, literally. I realize they had to keep the running time down to get audiences into the seats because people don't want to see a loooooong movie, but the storyline suffered a bit from the jauntiness of this transition. Seems to me that they could have smoothed that over just a tad to make it more believable--still, it's a minor quibble about an amazingly engaging and thoroughly entertaining film. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were both revelations in their parts both on and off stage. It's interesting to see Lady Gaga back to being, well, Lady Gaga after seeing how she portrayed Ally in the film. Her Grammy performance displeased a lot of people who were expecting her to channel Ally, but there might be hope for that yet for her Oscar performance with Bradley. I'm a longtime, diehard fan of hers, but she can get on my nerves at times as well. I went to see her pop show in Vegas and left quite disappointed, so much so that I wouldn't go again if somebody GAVE me a ticket. I wasn't sure whether I hadn't actually been to a heavy metal concert (except for the two glorious ballads near the end). The ridiculous, embarrassing storyline that ran throughout the show, obviously Circue du Soleil inspired, made her look like a self-indulgent, sophomoric artist at best, and was highly disappointing after seeing what she is capable of in a movie like Star. I am returning, however, for her Jazz and Piano show, which is, my bad, the show I should have bought tix for in the first place. It will be really interesting to see where Gaga goes from here. She can be polarizing, that's for sure....witness all of the 1 star reviews in a row on here (do you really think those are all from DIFFERENT people??), but her talent is undeniable, like her, or not. If you don't think so, just watch her Super Bowl performance in its entirety, or see her honor Julie Andrews on the 50th anniversary of "The Sound of Music" at the Oscars. She's a musical force to be reckoned with!! And now she has added actress to her list of talents....a star is born, indeed.

  • Alright but man is it overblown

This was a fine watch it once sort of movie. It was well done for the most part with a dry spell or two. What is in it getting people so excited is what I don’t understand. Maybe it is just how starved people are for a movie with a story they feel they haven’t seen before?
  • Did I watch the SAME MOVIE!?

    By BamaGirlGing
This was the most horrible, boring movie that I have ever tried to watch! I literally fell asleep 3 different times trying to watch it all the way through. I love Gaga and Cooper, but this just did NOT do anything for me, and that is putting it very mildly...
  • Excellent!!

  • Captivating!

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper deliver career-defining performances in "A Star Is Born." Ally (Gaga) and Jackson's (Cooper) chemistry and connection will make you root for their troubled love story. The first time Ally hits the main stage with Jackson you can't help but well up with emotion and relief and amazement at her intoxicating talent. Jackson's deep personal flaws remind us of the imperfection of humanity. "A Star Is Born" has a magnetic charm. And it will cradle your spirit as your heart aches for them to find peace in this difficult world. Look for acting nominations for both, including direction and writing by Cooper. "Shallow" is a sure nominee for Best Song.

This movie has changed my life. Amazing performances by Gaga and Bradley. I watched it three times in the theater and I have literally been listening to the soundtrack everyday. I’m still a mess emotionally from this.

This was such an intense and awe-inspiring movie! You can really tell that these two have chemistry, and that they gave their performances their all. It’s a modern-day Pretty Woman, and I know I will be rewatching this one for years to come! I cannot wait to see what else Lady Gaga’s movie career has in-store for her! She’s simply amazing!
  • Pretty good

Thought the actors did a good job. But, it lagged in the second half. Lady Gaga can definitely sing and act. Cooper was ok too. Something was missing and I can’t put my finger on what that was. Worth seeing, but not a best picture candidate.
  • who is at the wheel at Rotton Tomatoes?

Really? After watching this one, I didn't even finish it, I’ve come to the conclusion that a lot of people have a taste for garbage. This is what the movie is. Acting by gag gag and crew was sloppy and demeaning to the art. Don't waste Your time with this one.
  • Third remake for ego’s sake

How many of these positive reviews are paid? This movie just sucked. This review system is bogus, appeal vs. a poke at reality with a joke must irk the system. Lighten up.
  • What Happened?

Thought that it would be a good movie to see on Sunday evening but turned out to be very predictable, slow and boring. Maybe it will get so awards (since it’s all a scam really—for more info on awards watch “Adam ruins everything” on Netflix) but I personally thing that most awards should go to “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
