The Meg : A deep-sea submersible filled with an international research crew lies disabled at the bottom of the Pacific after having been attacked by a massive shark previously thought to be extinct. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao) to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now he must risk his own life to save everyone trapped below...bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time!

    Very very good
  • Root for the shark. Trust me.

I liked this movie better the first time when it was called Deep Blue Sea. I mean, that one was awful, too, but at least you got to see Saffron Burrows in her underwear. This was just yet another in an ever growing list of irredeemably bad Jason Statham movies. By the halfway point of this ridiculous non-scary CGI-masturbatorial unintentional comedy farce, I was literally praying for each and every one of these D-list actors to be chewed up and swallowed. Don’t get me wrong, I knew it would be an awful mess, but I wasn’t nearly prepared enough to consume all the human excrement that was in this cinematic dumpster. I would demand my money back from the studio that spawned this Crapenstein monster, but I was fortunate to at least not have been the poor soul that put down the coin to rent it. If this sincerely understated review doesn’t warn you away from watching it, at least root for the shark. That will help numb a little of the pain.
  • Amazing

So pleased with how great this movie was. All of the bad reviews nearly scared me away. If open water or sharks scare you, this movie will thrill you.

Bad acting to a point of being cringeworthy. The tone is all over the place. One minute they are making jokes, the next someone is getting chomped on. Is this movie suppose to be a scary? it was so bad I'm laughing at it not with it. The trailer was the only thing making this movie look interesting. What a disappointment. Anyone from fresh tomatoes giving this a fresh review has got to be on the take.

The Gore was PG 13, the acting was okay and the plot was meh.
  • Cheesy but Fun Action Adventure

Probably falls in the category of scientific disaster movies. If you liked Armageddon, then you’ll like this.

  • A good roller coaster ride

Not academy award material, but an entertaining roller coaster ride. Plenty of action and great special effects.
  • The Meg Should Be Named The Smeg

This movie sucked beyond belief. I should’ve spent the evening hammering my bits with a old shoe. Instead I watched this debacle. I would rather watch those horrendous housewives shows my wife likes. Please God help me forget this horrible creation.

The movie won’t win any awards, but it was fun to watch the special effects were great! I grade movies on if I would watch multiple times. this one will be watched many times!
  • More like “Meh”

One of those films where the trailer is better then the movie. I always like Rainn Wilson, who was able to keep some of the movie interesting next to its drab star. Was hoping for more of a “Piranha” type movie where it focuses on the shore line, instead we get a chase movie that doesn’t secure the action it should.

I would not suggest wasting your money I was so disappointed with how it turned out! :,(
  • Book vs movie

    By Cfhfdgii
The book is far different from the movie but he movie makes up for it with the funny humor and action filled scenes. I would prefer to see the book become a movie(following the events of the book solely) but the movie was amazing regardless of what was taken from the book and left out of the movie, it is a good mix of both worlds. I highly recommend watching the movie before reading the books (so you don’t have conflicting reactions).
  • Don’t

  • Great Popcorn Action Film

I had a lot more fun with this than I expected, I had read the books decades ago and had been waiting for this flick. I went in expecting it to be schlock but was surprised by how good it actually was. I really hope they release the R-Rated cut as that is how it was filmed.
  • Decent but not Great

    By Electric Beast
I had fun watching the movie, it had good humor and jumpscares, but it was kind of predictable. When I watched this with my friend, we could see the shark coming from a mile away. But I’ll ignore the bad for now and say that the movie was pretty fun and worth the money for the movie ticket. I thought it was decent, but they could have done a little better. But good work, Warner Bros.
  • Seriously?

I can’t believe this movie was ever funded. It is beyond bad and an embarrassment to everyone involved with making it.
