  • Great movie, completely unexpected!

    By Rycraig81
I loved this movie and was surprised to see it not rated higher. I love the type of action action this was and the ending how it was completely unexpected. So often movies end the same way and this one didn’t. These are just the type of movies I will go see over and over.
  • Meh

Wahlbergs acting in this was waaaay overdone. Not sure what kind of character he was supposed to be playing. Lots os shooting, that’s about it.
  • Loved it!

Ignore the deep-dives into the movie and watch it for simple entertainment value - this is where it shines. It's an interesting story with superb action scenes and plot twists. Yes, it's not without its flaws but it delivers nonetheless. I enjoyed it and while I may be easily amused and can overlook the shortcomings, I suspect that there are many out there who are just like me. It's easy to appreciate as long as you don't try too hard to dissect the movie. I liked it. It kept me glued to my seat, made me rethink how the movie played out and left me with several, "wow, didn't see that coming" moments. Loved it and I hope they make a sequel! :)
  • Nice one

It will keep you entertained for sure
  • Well, I enjoyed it.

While I do agree the movie has its flaws, But, I really enjoyed it. Then again I am a Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg fan so as long as its not a Ted movie I would watch it. I read they are working on a sequel already and may turn this into a franchise kind of like the Bourne series. I hope those involved in making these other films can do a better job for the others.
  • Great Popcorn Movie

As usual, Wahlberg is a good action figure. Lauren Cohen is both beautiful and a great actress. Loved the movie for what it is - entertainment.
  • Surprisingly Enjoyable - I Hope There Are Sequels

    By Bull Brucer
I had low expectations but ended up really enjoying the movie and hoping it is the start of a new franchise. It really is a good action movie with the elements you would expect: over the top scenarios, over the top characters, some decent humor, and lots of shooting and explosions. Simply stated: put your mind in neutral and enjoy the ride.
  • Hard to follow the plot and not worth the time

    By LT-DFW
The opening was great; but, after the first few minutes the plot moves all around and I’m okay with movies pushing reality this one went over board and I do not recommend buying it. If you want to see it rent (iTunes or RedBox).
  • Strictly action

The action was good and entertaining but their was no good story. The ending sucked

  • Ugh !! So disappointing!

    By Dafinator
I was looking forward to seeing this for months.... what a let down. I think my expectations are too high for movies these days! Action was great but was missing something and the ending was horrible. Disappointing.
  • Horrible

    By Caddisbug1994
It just is. Mark is bad bad bad. Script and concept is dumb. I love action movies and this one was beyond bad and boring. I bought it. Don’t make the same mistake. Don’t even rent it. So dumb.
  • It Could Have Been Good

    By brslc
Movies fail when they try too hard to be clever. The movie had all the makings of an excellent plot but it got bogged down in the twisty narrative. The audience got attached to the main characters so there needed to be a payoff for all the work and investment the audience put into these characters and their lives. In the end, no one cares about the narrative; we care about the characters. It seemed like the filmmakers didn't care about them and instead focused on their own facile cleverness. Booo
  • Bummer

Too much yelling and not enough Iko Uwais
  • This is a good action movie that never stops!

    By Hexximan
Every body keeps whining about the lack of a story line but a movie like this doesn't really need one. If you rented or purchased this thinking there would be some some deep, complicated plot and every characters' background would be revealed then you must not watch a lot of action movies. This was exactly what I expected except there was a lot more action. Oh and of course there were a lot of nameless extras getting shot because thats what these movies ARE. If you are familiar with what "ACTION" movies are these days you would know what you were getting. I liked it, it kept me entertained, and I could name almost every weapon they used. Just GOOD FUN!
  • One of the Best This Year

    By Brilliant Madness
Fan-fkn-tastic movie. Wahlberg always delivers - Shooter, Lone Survivor - have nothing on this one. The critics pan it because the 'narrative' involves nuclear material originated in a muslim-majority country. If you're that sensitive, why not convert and relocate? Many scenes had very creative violence and Uwais has some breathtaking skills.
  • Gripping and well scripted

    By NotANihilist
This a genuinely fantastic film. It is scripted as a snapshot into an opaque world of higher espionage, where the players are often not clearly defined, knowledge is scarce, and life and death decisions are made on the best actionable intelligence available- which itself is often incomplete and unreliable. If you are looking for a fleshed out hero-story replete with deep dives into each character's background and "what makes them special" this is the wrong film. Each player in the film is insignificant and mostly anonymous, as operatives in this world are. They are expendable assets deployed to achieve goals that have been deemed more important than their lives. They are each a drop in the ocean. Much in the way the characters in the film don't understand the full picture, the viewer isnt supposed to either. And it is unecessary to tell the story this film tells. Yet the film is gripping from start to finish and even without much character development, one finds oneself caring about the characters even as their expendability is highlighted. One realizes that their deaths don't matter, much as their lives largely didn't. Perhaps BECAUSE their expendability is so highlighted, their deaths strike a chord with the viewer; as we are all expendable in the greater scheme of things and very few of our lives will truly matter. We are all anoymous actors to most people we encounter, our motivations and back stories unknown. This film encapsulates the fact that countless lives are often lost for no real purpose and with no real import or notation as nations and ideals clash. This has repeated itself since the dawn of humanity and will continue till we are gone. The great game goes on.
