Description

The Endless : Following their Lovecraftian modern cult classic SPRING, acclaimed filmmakers Moorhead and Benson return with this mind-bending thriller that follows two brothers who receive a cryptic video message inspiring them to revisit the UFO death cult they escaped a decade earlier. Hoping to find the closure that they couldn't as young men, they're forced to reconsider the cult's beliefs when confronted with unexplainable phenomena surrounding the camp. As the members prepare for the coming of a mysterious event, the brothers race to unravel the seemingly impossible truth before their lives become permanently entangled with the cult.

The concept had such potential but the execution failed. I don’t understand how this has the good reviews it does. I am glad I didn’t spend more than the 99 cents + tax.

...while under anesthesia this is what you would see. Or..Here’s a better example.. Go get your car keys and try to start you neighbors car. That’s kind of like this movie.. IT JUST DOESN’T WORK! 🤪🤪🤪🤪
  • I absolutely loved this strange beautiful film

I had never heard of Justin Benson or Aaron Moorhead before watching this, but I loved this film. It's beautiful and strange in the best possible way. I won't spoil the story for you, but if you like intelligent stories and can deal with a slow burn, you may like it as much as I did. It's not horror and it's not sci-fi. It's a drama with bits of both. The best thing about it is that I had no idea where it was going until it got there. FYI -- after watching The Endless I watched two of their other films (Resolution, which is in the same story universe as The Endless) and Spring. I enjoyed both, but Spring is really something special.
  • What is this—and what are reviewers thinking?

This movie was awful. My wife and I are sitting here wondering whether we are more confounded by how horrible the movie was (not even sure what it was, other than boring and pointless) or by the reviews, which must be of a different movie. We wanted to stop watching early on but figured there must be something amazing coming. Spoiler: It didn’t.

This movie is great. I highly recomend seeking out the directors previous movie, Resolution, as it will add an extra layer to this movie. That said I think The Endless can be enjoyed on its own. Loved the story, the pacing, and the acting.
  • Interesting but disappointing

This was an interesting movie that kept my attention but ultimately I did not like. The promise of the first part was squandered in the last part. The people who like this movie may claim that those who don't like it don't like movies that require them to think. Perhaps. But somewhere along the line that thinking should lead to at least some conclusions. The Endless sets up enigas and mysteries that are not only not explained, but do not provide enough information to allow that thinking to lead anywhere. I can appreciate a good mind-bender (check out a Spanish film "TimeCrimes" as a good example) and you don't have to expain everyting but, PLEASE, give me at least a little plot-resolutions-satisfaction. Requiring you to think shouldn't mean requring the audience to invent half the plot or backstory. Bottom line is: you don't have to feel like your intelligencen or perceptiveness is lacking in any way because some filmmaker or scriptwriter invents somethng in THEIR mind that doesnt' make sense in YOUR mind. Maybe the problem isn't you......

Ultimately this movie was just boring. A very interesting concept for sure but not well executed. Not scary, had me checking my phone for the time. Was hoping for so much more...

MInd twists and atmospheric films are some of my favorite genres and I was anxious to see this from it's great reviews. Sadly it mostly fell flat. A few interesting mysteries never built to anything really truly engaging. A great premise that went nowhere.

This was an hour and half of my life that i cant get back. There was absolutely nothing the entire movie. Once and a while you would see something that would half way keep your attention but nothing ever comes from it. Very poor acting and no plot that has any sunstance. Do not buy. just stay away.I would give it 0 stars ifit let me.

  • Terribly underwhelmed

Just a whole lotta nothing. Interesting story but, no real payoff. Admittedly, there were some interesting bits with the rope and the moons but, overall, it’s a cable TV movie, not worthy of a rental or purchase. I purchased it and felt like I wasted $15. Totally unsatisfying in every regard.

Has this become like TripAdvisor where people are paid to write fake reviews?! This movie is awful pure and simple! Don’t waste your time on this one.

An hour should be long enough to give it a chance and it didn’t pick up at all, slowwwww and dull movie.

Kept waiting for something cool to happen. It didn't. I liked "Resolution", but this one fell short.
  • Contemporary Lovecraftian Horror At Its Finest

Nuanced, mind-mucking and unflinchingly eerie in its depiction of cosmic tension, The Endless stands as one of the most compelling and criminally underrated horror works in recent memory. Fans of supernatural/psychological dread will relish this metaphor for one’s human tendency to get stuck in self-destructive routines.
